What attracted you to the Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship programme?

What attracted me to the company was that I knew Anglian Water was a good company to work for and was somewhere I could develop my career. I am a technically minded person and wanted to develop this with hands-on training in and out of the classroom, so I applied online and went to an interview at Saltersford Water Treatment Works. After being successful, I attended an assessment day where I took part in various exercises. Then I had a call saying that I got the job, I was so happy and couldn’t wait to start!

What are the best aspects of your role?

The best aspect of my role is that everyday is different. I love the fact that when I come to work each day I face new challenges and problems instead of the same thing day in day out, it makes work fun! Also being around my team who I get along with so well and am able to chat to about things, everything about the job is so welcoming. It’s also great having a van and getting your tools; I’m getting the ‘hands-on’ experience I was looking for.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?

I definitely see myself working for Anglian Water. I am hopefully going to be a qualified Maintenance Technician, gaining new skills and knowledge whilst improving on the set of skills I have already gained in my apprenticeship.
